The LOUD (Local Young Leaders for Inclusion) project led by Efus organised its final conference on 26 May, concluding more than two years of work during which the nine participating cities mobilised young local citizens to design and produce alternative narrative campaigns promoting tolerance and countering discrimination and hate speech.


Concluding two and a half years of work, the BRIDGE project on building resilience to reduce polarisation and growing extremism held its final conference on 31 May to exchange recommendations and lessons learned on how to locally prevent and mitigate polarisation. Strengthening social cohesion as an antidote to polarisation was the main theme of the event.
As part of its strategy for the prevention of violent radicalisation, which it designed with the support of Efus, the City of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Spain) completed in May a training programme aimed at giving municipal technicians tools to respond to local situations of radicalisation.


Efus and DEFUS took part in the 26th German Prevention Congress, which was held on 10 and 11 May in the City of Cologne and online, gathering over 800 participants, academic experts, practitioners, policy makers and representatives of police and federal, state and local authorities.


As part of a series of web conferences on the prevention of group violence among young people, the European (Efus) and French (FFSU) Forums organised an online meeting on 18 May on the topic of peer-to-peer prevention, which gathered about 50 local security actors: local elected officials, municipal technicians and association representatives.
The Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), which is the UK Government’s technical authority for physical and personal security, has launched a new study on the prevention of vehicle borne threats and Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). In this PACTESUR guide, the CPNI explores the ways in which vehicle as a weapon (VAW) attacks manifest themselves, including the environments they occur in, and the response of people, security operations and emergency services.


Efus co-organised an online workshop with the European Commission’s Directorate General Home Affairs on the use of drones for urban security and how to prepare for and mitigate potential threats from hostile or non-cooperative drones, on 12 May.
